Of Myths and Legends...

Greetings fellow mortals! This week, it is once again Tube Time. Lets take a look at another Safari Tube!

 Once upon a time...

First up is the Sea Dragon. Unlike the spectacular failure that was the Lair of the Dragons tube, the Myths and Legends tube is filled with miniature versions of full sized figures. Such as this sea dragon here. Not bad at all, nice color gradient and detail. Wouldn't mind the full version of this guy!

Half eagle, half lion, all awesome
Based on the Safari LTD Griffin, this figure is surprisingly not the exact same sculpt. It was likely modified to have down turned wings so it fit in the tube better. Again, good detail and everything. I like the slightly gold sheen to all the feathers on him too. Its a nice touch!

Have you ever heard of Chimera?
Another cool one, the Chimera. Pretty neat take, four heads, decent detail, good paint. I rather like the design. Overall not much to complain about here, I might say that alot..

The littlest mermaid
A decent figure, if I actually cared for it. But boy, they REALLY could of made the scallops on her breasts a darker color or something. It almost makes her look topless at first glance.

Hopefully the last one...
Its a unicorn. Moving on.

Lord of the seas
Posidon, Greek god of the sea. Looks a bit like Aquaman, but hes ok. Wish they included some more gods to go with him however. At least Zeus and Hades. Perfect trifecta.

Phoenix, not down.
A hell of alot better than the Phoenix from the Lair of the Dragons tube. Much better pose and detail. Love the colors on him, they are really well done and look pretty fiery.

Heir today, gone tomorrow
The sculpt and everything on this guy is really great! The one flaw however is that this minotaur does not stand very well at all. You can't tell from this angle, but one of his hooves has a small piece of ground attached to it for support. It does not help very much at all. Even on flat surfaces this guy often falls over. A shame, considering how great this figure it otherwise.

Thats it for this week's tale, catch you later!

  1. Oooh, cool! I might have to actually get this tube! I recognize a lot of these figures from the big versions; I have the (big) gryphon myself.
