In the time of Mammoths..

Greetings fellow Homo Sapiens! Yet another tube, because I'm just pulling them out of my closet every week for a quick and easy topic to post about! I'm running low on them, so I won't be able to do that for much longer lol.

First off in this set known as "Prehistoric Life Toob" is some "cavemen". Decently detailed, though the single caveman holding a spear is in a rather awkward pose. Also included is a campfire with a piece of\nondescript meat. I wonder if these guys intend to build a tower of mammoth tusks to the sun. That would be awesome. Nice figures overall. Don't have enough cavemen anyhow.

Big and Slow
Next up is a pine tree and Mgatherium. Not much to say on the Pine Tree, its a good sculpt for a tree. But seeing as the majority of toy trees I own are just some palm trees that came with cheap Marx style dinos, the isn't very many comparisons I can draw. The Megatherium is pretty nice! Good sculpt, detail, pose and is all around. Definitely don't have any other figures of these either.

Krakatoa!
Another landscape piece for this set, a random volcano. It looks pretty nice, but maybe a hut made of fur and bones would of fit better.

Wolves and Armadillos?
On the left we have Andrewsarchus, and the right is Glyptodon. Andrew is pretty disappointing compared to the rest of the set. Low detail, looks almost cartoony, hardly any paint. Not a fan. Glyp on the other hand looks pretty good, love his club tail!

Maru what?
Macrauchenia actually. An odd mammal, but none the less, one that has more become more common in ice age media since their appearance in the Walking with special. Good fur detail, and nice variation of paint apps to give it's coat a non-bland appearance. If you need one of these for some reason, this is likely the best place to get it.

Smile, you're on candid camera!
Meh, kinda underwhelming Smilodon. His teeth aren't even painted by the looks of it. He blends in perfectly with the tan Megabloks base from the above pictures, or else his photo would of been taken there. Boy his eyes make him look like a cartoon or something.

 Arsenic Rhino?
Arsinotherium here is not a bad figure at all. Slightly dynamic pose, like its just getting ready to attack, or threatening a would be attacker. The eyes on this one look great as well. The fit they animal pretty well, and add a bigger degree of realism. Props to Safari.

Iconic Wooly
Another good pose here, and detail. Without the flash the photos of this guy made him look like he was completely bronze however lol. Nice paint apps and everything! Definitely a keeper!

Thats it for this week everyone, see you next Epoch!

  1. Awesome set! Though it leaves me a bit confused...I recognize (and own) about half of these, and the other half looks completely unfamiliar. Did I buy the tube, lose half and forget about it? Or buy them secondhand somewhere? Hahah who knows?

    1. Lol, wish I could answer that. I don't think any of these were packaged with other sets to my knowledge.
